Spend an Invigorating Day at These Des Plaines Park District Facilities

If you’re looking to up your fitness game, look no further than the Des Plaines Park District. As one of the premier park districts in the state of Illinois, it’s a great place to enjoy outdoor activities in bucolic surroundings. The park district is also located less than 30 minutes from Hancock Square at Arlington Station.

Below are just some of the activities you can enjoy in this exciting park district:

Mountain View Adventure Center

The Mountain View Adventure Center is best known for its challenging 18-hole miniature golf course, which has the look and feel of a mining town from bygone years.

If you’d like to improve your baseball skills, you’ll enjoy the batting cages here. They can accommodate slow, medium, fast, and very fast pitches. Golf or baseball not your style? Check out the Skate & Bike Park to perform double peg grinds on your bike or Kasper flips on your skating board.

Prairie Lakes Community Center

The Prairie Lakes Community Center hosts several programs and events throughout the year. The community center is also home to the Prairie Lakes Fitness Center, which offers a variety of cardio equipment and Cybex strength training machines. You’ll find a sauna and whirlpool here, as well.

If you prefer to exercise outdoors, an outdoor path is available for bicycling, jogging, and rollerblading.

Looking for a facility to host an event? The fitness center’s gymnasium, as well as the Prairie Lakes Theater, can be rented out for your own personal gatherings. Be sure to read up about facility rentals before you make your plans.

Lake Park Golf Course

The Lake Park Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-3 course that’s perfect for both amateur and professional golfers. The course is shorter than those at other facilities, at just over 1,500 yards long. So, beginners can play a shorter course, while professionals can practice their short games.

The primary attraction here is, of course, Lake Opeka, which also serves as a water hazard for Hole 8.

At the lake’s marina, you’ll find kayaks and paddleboats available for seasonal rentals as well.

All in all, Des Plaines Park District offers plenty of fun for everyone. So, visit often to take advantage of all it has to offer.
