Once you start eating good sushi, it’s so hard to stop. Thankfully, ordering another roll is easy, and you’ll definitely want to order extras when you’re at Giant Sakura, a new sushi restaurant in Rolling Meadows.
About Giant Sakura
Giant Sakura is a somewhat upscale sushi bar where you’ll feel right at home on a date or out to dinner with friends. It would even be suitable for a nice business dinner when clients are in town.
The dining area is decorated with real plants, pendant lights, and simple artwork. You can sit at the bar and watch the talented sushi chef prepare your meal, or you can grab a table for more privacy.
Giant Sakura does not serve alcohol, but they do allow guests to BYOB, so feel free to bring along a bottle of your favorite wine or a growler of beer.
The best way to start a meal at Giant Sakura is with a seaweed salad or one of their homemade soups of the day. Then, move on to a shared appetizer. Guests love the soft shell crab and the gyoza for sharing.
Giant Sakura offers sashimi and nigiri in 2-piece orders. The tuna is always fresh, and guests also compliment the unagi. If you’re in the mood for rolls instead, try the shrimp tempura or the caterpillar roll. The house roll, called the Giant Sakura, is made with spicy tuna, avocado, and cucumber and topped with sliced tuna and red beet garlic mayonnaise.
If you visit for lunch, you can enjoy a lunch special, like the 2-rolls combo that comes with miso soup and house salad, or the sushi sampler, which comes with a variety of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls.
